Home Office Water

In a previous article 'is your office green as could "I shared a few tips on how you can help reduce waste and save money on your office at home. Well you really got my juices and ideas just kept flowing. So in this article I want to share my bonus of 5 points to help you save money, precious resources and do something in a small way for a great cause!

Tip 1 – Power Consumption

There are some ways very simple that you can save energy in your office and almost everyone can start saving with today!

Lighting and appliances – Turn off lights and appliances that are not needed. Are you working in your home office and have lights, radio or maybe a TV in other rooms that are not being occupied? If a lot of light coming in, keep the lights off!
Computers – turn your PC into standby mode if you take a break for lunch and even turn it off If you are leaving the office for more than an hour. Better yet, turn on Power Save mode to come after a period of inactivity.
A screenshot – If you still have one of those screensavers that move – if it is a psychedelic or a tamer variety – Did you know that these can consume as much energy as when the computer is in use?
Heating / cooling – if you're expecting hot or cold end, close the blinds first thing in the morning, before you feel the need. Doing this early in the day reduces the overall heat gain / cooling the building and reduces the need for air conditioning. You can enjoy this view once the cold reduces heat in the day. • Its industrial – If you can save money with your cup of tea! I felt so guilty of this in the past, feeling the need to fill the boiler with the above each time I cook. I think it's a bit of OCD, for my part, but I found it hard to shake. Until one day I had a ephiphany caused by severe pain when I put my hands around the pot stainless steel, feeling that if it had been boiled (do not ask!). As I raised my hands in cold water, I thought about the incredible heat and the amount of that the invisible power that it should take to generate. So just fill the kettle, as much as you think you need, then film boiling!

Tip 2 – Travel Habits

This certainly became more important to us when prices fuel hit record levels – group all my errands together and knock them over in one trip. If anything can wait until the next day, when going out to then lets wait rather than make a special trip.

Tip 3 – E-mail to your account

Until about one years ago I was still posting invoices, brochures, etc. I think my customers think it was rude or an upstart by sending their accounts via email mail. I really do not know what was so worried, I know that I scan all my mail on my computer as I like having everything in a format of e and not having to through lever rifle or suspension of the files so that tatty old piece of paper. Just think of the money you can save on paper, printing, shipping costs – but the key here is a backup backup backup!

Council 4 – Printer Purchases

This is a little tricky, because I will tell you to spend more, but will bring long-term savings – see … When you buying your next copier / fax / printer, consider having a sleep mode. It will probably be a little more expensive, but save a lot of energy.

Which brings me to another point, cheap machines often have a high cost of consumables. These printers Dinky little to do for $ 69, usually chew through ink and replacement ink cartridges more likely the most expensive type, and (who have to give their money somewhere). It's probably best to spend twice on a machine that uses ink economically.

Tip 5 – Do your homework

There are some big consumer websites that offer comparisons on the apparatus, showing that it will be cheaper, more efficient energy, etc.. A major one is www.choice.com.au. Some of his reports are free and some in depth reports you have to pay. I think I paid about $ 11 for a comparative report on the best copier / printer / fax to buy and has been a great investment for me and I could not be happier with my machine.

But above all do not get caught and are concerned about what not being made to help save the planet, just focus on the things you can do now and continue from there. He soon hooked on finding new ways to save money and help the environment at the same time – and why not you, it's a win-win situation!
